Stop by the Media Center to see Mrs. Matuszek’s creative display with a selection of books that relate to enchanted forests, woods, fairies, and a few creepy Halloween stories as well. Many of these are the original classics of your favorite childhood stories, like Snow White and Grimm's Fairy Tales, that have inspired so many popular Fantasy movies and modern books. Many of the tools in our Makerspace, along with upcycled materials were used to create the display. It's amazing what you can do with cardboard boxes, craft paper and tape!
The trees were cut out of old cardboard boxes with an X-acto blade and matte on our large-surface Makerspace Workbench. The manual die cutters were used with craft paper for the leaves on the trees. The big storybook was hand drawn with colored pencil, and words printed in Old English font. On the back we used our new Calligraphy pens to write the title. The electronic Brother ScanNCut machine was used to scan the exact shape of store-bought glitter leaves to die-cut matching leaves out of the pages from a weeded book. An old branch from outside, colorful yarn and some store-bought twinkle lights give us all the Fall Feeling we've been waiting for. Check out all the digital Makerspace tools that are accessible on ManeMedia.info at www.ManeMedia.info/technology#makerspace or ask us about the tools we have at the Makerspace Workbench.
Many thanks to Mrs. Matuszek for her inspired design and thoughtful work with our student aides to bring us her enchanting display!
